July 21, 2026

What's new

We continue to fix known bugs, add improvements, and help you create better software.

Add New Item improvements

Adding new items now includes directory names in the generated namespace. There's also improved support for projects and files that contain special characters.

Editor improvements

  • Improved handling for curly braces
  • Ensuring all available types are offered in completions
  • Multi-line comments now collapse correctly, including comments at the top of an AXAML file

Support for opening folders and files

Basic editor support is now available when opening a file or folder, rather than when opening the project or solution that contains it.

Improved code analysis in the Complete Edition

  • Catch mistakes in Grid configuration
  • Automatically simplify column and row definitions
  • Detect invalid class names
  • Identify where duplicate properties are set and would be simplified with a Style
  • Enabled automatic creation of new Styles
  • Highlight redundant property setters

Thank you

We're incredibly grateful to those of you who have helped us improve the extension by reporting problems, helping reproduce issues, and suggesting improvements. We know that producing a good error report or clearly explaining why a change would be beneficial can take a lot of time and thought. We want to say a big thank you to those of you who have done this and helped make Avalonia better for everyone. Especially: Thomas, Fabian, Heiko, yoyo, Alex, Nick, Thad, Louis, Silvair, Andrew, Joe, and Steve.
