Schedule 12: Avalonia for Code (Essentials)
Version 1.1, effective as of 29 October 2026
This Product Schedule forms part of and is subject to the Avalonia UI Master Terms and Conditions. Capitalised terms not defined herein have the meanings given in the Master Terms.
1. Product-Specific Definitions
"Software" refers to the Avalonia for Code extension in its Essentials tier, a free-of-charge Visual Studio Code extension that provides a subset of Avalonia's developer tooling functionality within the Visual Studio Code editor. The Essentials tier does not include the additional features and functionality available in the Complete tier.
"Complete Tier" means the paid version of the Avalonia for Code extension that unlocks additional features and functionality beyond the Essentials tier, governed by a separate Product Schedule.
"Marketplace" means the Visual Studio Code Marketplace operated by Microsoft Corporation, or any successor platform through which Visual Studio Code extensions are distributed.
2. Customer Eligibility
2.1 Open Eligibility
The Essentials tier is available to any individual or organisation in Good Standing (Section 2.3). There are no revenue limits, team size restrictions, or commercial use limitations. The Customer may use the Essentials tier for any lawful purpose, including commercial development.
2.2 No Account Required
Unless otherwise specified by Avalonia UI, the Customer is not required to create an Avalonia Account to install and use the Essentials tier. If Avalonia UI introduces an account requirement in the future, it will do so with reasonable notice in accordance with Section 10.4.2 of the Master Terms.
2.3 Good Standing
"Good Standing" means that the Customer, and any organisation on whose behalf or for whose benefit the Customer uses the Software, (a) is not in breach of this Agreement, any Product Schedule, or any other agreement with Avalonia UI (including any reseller, partner, distribution, services, or confidentiality agreement) that has not been cured; (b) has no unpaid liability under Section 9 of Schedule 8; (c) has not had this Agreement, any licence, or any other agreement with Avalonia UI terminated for breach; (d) has no amounts owing to Avalonia UI that are past due; and (e) is not prohibited from receiving Avalonia UI's Services under Section 4.3 of the Master Terms. Good Standing is a condition of this licence and must be maintained throughout its term.
3. Licence Grant
3.1 Grant of Essentials Licence
Subject to the Customer being and remaining in Good Standing, and subject to compliance with the Master Terms and this Schedule, Avalonia UI grants to the Customer free of charge a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the Essentials tier of the Software on any number of machines.
3.2 Essential Tooling Only
The Essentials licence covers a subset of Avalonia's developer tooling designated by Avalonia UI as "essential features." It does not include the additional features and functionality available in the Complete tier. Avalonia UI may, in its sole discretion, modify the features designated as essential from time to time.
3.3 No Perpetual Rights
The Essentials licence does not confer any perpetual rights. Avalonia UI may discontinue or withdraw the Essentials tier at any time with reasonable notice. Upon discontinuation, the Customer's right to use the Software ceases.
3.4 Tier Boundary
Circumventing, bypassing, disabling, or attempting to unlock Complete tier features without a valid paid licence constitutes a material breach of this Agreement entitling Avalonia UI to terminate this licence immediately under Section 8.3 of the Master Terms.
3.5 Automatic Suspension for Loss of Good Standing
The licence granted under Section 3.1 is suspended automatically, without notice or any act by Avalonia UI, for any period during which the Customer, or any organisation on whose behalf or for whose benefit the Customer uses the Software, is not in Good Standing. During any such period no licence is granted, any installation or use of the Software is unlicensed and constitutes an infringement of Avalonia UI's intellectual property rights, and Sections 8.5 and 8.6 of the Master Terms apply as if this Agreement had been terminated. The licence resumes automatically when Good Standing is restored, unless Avalonia UI has terminated this Agreement in the meantime. Avalonia UI may, where technically possible, disable the Software for any Customer or organisation that is not in Good Standing.
3.6 Use for the Benefit of an Organisation
Where the Customer is an individual, the Customer accepts this Agreement in a personal capacity and is personally bound by it whether or not any organisation for which the Customer works is also bound. The Customer shall not install or use the Software in the course of work for, or for the benefit of, any organisation that the Customer knows, or ought reasonably to know, is not in Good Standing. Without limitation, the Customer is taken to know that an organisation is not in Good Standing where (a) Avalonia UI has given notice of the breach, termination, or amount owing to the organisation or to the Customer, or (b) the Customer participated in, or was aware of, the conduct constituting the breach. Use of the Software in breach of this Section is unlicensed use by the Customer personally, for which the Customer is liable to Avalonia UI irrespective of any liability of the organisation, and in addition constitutes acceptance of this Agreement on behalf of the organisation in accordance with Section 10.12 of the Master Terms.
4. Updates and Distribution
4.1 Marketplace Distribution
The Software is distributed via the Marketplace. Updates, patches, and new versions may be delivered automatically through the Marketplace's update mechanisms.
4.2 Update Terms
Unless delivered with separate governing terms, all updates to the Software are subject to this Agreement (as amended from time to time in accordance with Section 10.4.2 of the Master Terms).
4.3 Feature Changes
Avalonia UI reserves the right to modify, add, or remove features available in the Essentials tier at any time, including moving previously free features into the Complete tier.
5. Data Collection
5.1 Telemetry
The Software may collect and transmit telemetry data to Avalonia UI, including usage data and interaction data. This telemetry is used to understand usage patterns, improve the Software, and inform product development decisions.
5.2 Mandatory Activation Telemetry
As a condition of this licence, the Software will transmit the following data to Avalonia UI each time the extension is activated, regardless of the Customer's general telemetry preferences: (a) the version of Visual Studio Code in use; (b) the operating system platform (Windows, macOS, or Linux); (c) the installed version of the Avalonia for Code extension; (d) the licence tier active at the time of activation (Essentials, Community, Plus, Pro, or Enterprise); (e) the Previewer mode configured by the Customer (Preview or Legacy); and (f) a device identifier, being an anonymous installation-specific identifier generated locally and not linked to any personal account or hardware serial number.
This data is collected to enable Avalonia UI to understand adoption patterns and prioritise platform support. It does not include source code, file paths, project names, or any other content created by the Customer.
Avalonia UI may also use this data, together with data collected through its other products and services, to monitor compliance in accordance with Section 4.7 of the Master Terms, including to identify use of the Software by or for the benefit of a Customer or organisation that is not in Good Standing.
The transmission of this data is a condition of this licence. The Customer shall not block, filter, intercept, alter, or otherwise interfere with its transmission, whether by configuration, network controls, modification of the Software, or any other means. Where the Software is in use and Avalonia UI does not receive this data from it, the data is deemed to have been blocked by the Customer unless the Customer demonstrates that the failure arose from causes outside its control. The licence granted under Section 3.1 terminates automatically, without notice or any act by Avalonia UI, from the moment such interference begins. All use of the Software from that moment is unlicensed and constitutes an infringement of Avalonia UI's intellectual property rights, and Sections 8.5 and 8.6 of the Master Terms apply as if this Agreement had been terminated on that date.
5.3 Opt-Out
Beyond the mandatory activation telemetry described in Section 5.2, the Customer may adjust additional telemetry settings in accordance with the options made available within the Software or Visual Studio Code's telemetry settings.
5.4 Data Scope
Avalonia UI does not collect source code, application code, or proprietary business data through telemetry. For full details on data collection and processing, refer to Avalonia UI's Privacy Policy and the Avalonia Telemetry Statement.
6. Support
6.1 Community Support Only
Support for the Essentials tier is provided solely via Avalonia's community channels (including GitHub Discussions and community forums) on a best-efforts basis with no response time commitments. The Essentials tier does not include email support, Customer Portal support, or any form of priority issue handling.
7. Third-Party Components
The Software may include or depend upon third-party open source components, each of which is subject to its own licence terms. The provisions of Section 6 (Open-Source Components) of the Master Terms apply in full.
8. Liability Cap Override
Notwithstanding Section 7.2 of the Master Terms, Avalonia UI's total cumulative liability for all claims arising under or relating to this Schedule shall not exceed one Euro (€1).
9. Amendment
This Schedule is subject to Section 10.4.2 of the Master Terms (Free and No-Charge Licence Tiers). Avalonia UI may amend this Schedule at any time by publishing an updated version on the Marketplace listing or on the Avalonia UI website. The Customer's continued use of the Software after the effective date of any amendment constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
