Professional services

From the team behind Avalonia: expert engineering, migration, and training services for .NET teams building cross-platform applications.

Engagements

How we help .NET teams

Avalonia's core engineers work alongside your team, from architecture and proof of concept through production delivery and ongoing optimisation.

Custom development

Production-ready Avalonia controls, features, and platform integrations built by the engineers who maintain the framework.

Performance engineering

Rendering pipeline, memory, and platform-specific optimisation from the engineers who built Avalonia's rendering engine.

Migration

Move from WPF, WinForms, or another .NET UI framework to Avalonia with a structured, low-risk migration path.

Consulting and architecture

Cross-platform architecture reviews, .NET technology assessments, and hands-on guidance for Avalonia adoption.

Training and workshops

Tailored training for your team, from Avalonia fundamentals to advanced cross-platform patterns.

Proof of concept

Validate your cross-platform concept with a working Avalonia prototype before committing to a full build.

Engineering

Custom development

From custom Avalonia controls to platform-native integrations, we write production-ready .NET code that slots directly into your codebase.

Whether you need to accelerate delivery, solve framework-level challenges, or build features your team does not have bandwidth for, we work as an extension of your .NET engineering team.

  • Custom Avalonia controls and UI components
  • Platform-native integrations for Windows, macOS, Linux, and mobile
  • Performance-critical rendering pipelines
  • Plugin and extensibility architectures
  • Co-funded features for the Avalonia framework
  • Embedded application development

Migration

A structured path off WPF.

Moving from WPF, WinForms, or another .NET UI framework? The migration runs in four phases, and your application keeps shipping to customers through all of them.

Our engineers built both the Avalonia framework and the Avalonia XPF compatibility layer, so your migration stays on track and on budget.

1

Assessment

We audit your XAML, custom controls, and third-party dependencies, then report what ports cleanly, what needs rework, and what has no Avalonia equivalent yet.

2

Architecture and planning

Your existing architecture is mapped onto Avalonia’s, and the work is sequenced so the application keeps shipping to customers throughout the migration.

3

Incremental migration

Avalonia XPF runs your existing WPF code beside ported Avalonia views, so screens move across one at a time instead of in a single cutover.

4

Validation and rollout

Behaviour is validated on every target platform before rollout, including the platforms the original application was never built to run on.

Advisory

Get the decisions right early

Two engagements for teams that need judgement rather than hands on keyboards: one that teaches your developers the framework, one that reviews what you have already built.

Training and workshops

Get your team productive with Avalonia faster. Our workshops typically run two to five days and cover the XAML, C#, and MVVM patterns your developers need for cross-platform Avalonia development.

  • XAML and styling fundamentals
  • Cross-platform architecture patterns for .NET
  • Avalonia performance best practices
  • Custom Avalonia control development

Consulting and architecture

Make the right technical decisions early. Our architects review your application design, identify adoption risks, and deliver a written assessment with a concrete cross-platform roadmap.

  • Application architecture review
  • Technology assessment and migration feasibility
  • Avalonia rendering and performance audits
  • Cross-platform strategy and adoption roadmap

We maintain the framework you are building on. That is why we can diagnose rendering pipeline bottlenecks and platform-specific edge cases no outside consultancy can reach.

Framework authors

Direct access to the engineers who design, build, and maintain the Avalonia framework, runtime, and rendering engine.

Production proven

Avalonia runs in production across desktop, mobile, web, and embedded at organisations including JetBrains, Unity, and NASA.

Enterprise ready

NDA-friendly engagements, IP assignment, and flexible contracting.

No handoffs

The same engineers who assess your architecture write the production code. One team from proof of concept through release.

Avalonia itself is open source and free to use. Professional services are a separate commercial offering for .NET teams that need framework-depth engineering, structured migration, or hands-on training.

Case study

From Windows to embedded Linux.

Schneider Electric's Harmony panels are the operator interface for factories, substations, and process lines around the world. Taking a generation of HMI graphics off Windows meant hitting hardware budgets that leave no room for a desktop compositor.

The graphics platform was customised onto Avalonia and ported to the Harmony HMIST6 series, rendering straight to the framebuffer on hardware with as little as 512MB of RAM.
