What's it like working here?

Our team of 11 works across 9 countries, spanning from the Philippines to the USA. We believe talent isn't bound by borders, which is why we've built a team that contributes from Italy, Kazakhstan, Germany, Estonia, Ghana, South Africa, France, and beyond. Being fully remote isn't just a policy - it's core to how we operate. We hire the best people regardless of location, communicate thoughtfully in writing, and trust our team to manage their time and deliver results. We ensure everyone has the equipment and resources needed to work effectively, wherever they choose to be based.

We're radically transparent

As builders of open-source technology, we believe in operating openly ourselves. Our company handbook is public, and we work in the open whenever possible. This transparency extends beyond just our code, we're open about how we operate, make decisions, and grow as a company.

We communicate asynchronously

Our primary communication happens through Telegram. We chose it over Slack and Teams for its native app experience and reliability across our global team. Our channels are organised by purpose, from engineering discussions to career applicants, from celebrating wins in Show and Tell to casual chatter in Off-Topic. This structure keeps conversations focused while ensuring information flows smoothly across time zones. With everything documented and searchable, team members can stay connected while maintaining the focus they need for deep work.

We're genuinely flat

With just 11 people, we don't need or want complex hierarchies. Everyone at Avalonia UI is empowered to make decisions about their work, contribute ideas across all aspects of the business, and collaborate directly with anyone in the team. We trust each person to take ownership of their own initiatives.

We keep meetings minimal

We believe in protecting everyone's time for actual work. Our only regular sync is an optional daily engineering meeting focused purely on support tickets - and we only hold it if there are tickets to discuss. Even our quarterly all-hands meetings are optional and recorded, ensuring everyone can stay informed without disrupting their workflow.

We trust our team

Working at Avalonia UI means being trusted to manage your own schedule, choose your work environment, and make decisions independently. We focus on outcomes rather than hours, and we encourage everyone to contribute in ways that match their strengths.
