What we’re looking for

Avalonia UI is seeking an experienced Founding Head of Sales to drive our next phase of growth. Originally founded as an open-source project that organically grew a commercial presence, we've spent the last 2 years focusing on business growth and are now ready to accelerate. With an established UI toolkit, growing commercial adoption, and initial sales processes in place, we're looking for someone to take ownership of our commercial strategy and scale it. This is an opportunity to join an 11-person team at a crucial growth stage, working alongside our existing sales professional who joined in September 2024.

This role combines the excitement of a growth-stage company with the advantage of an established technical product, existing customer base, and proven market fit. You'll be joining a lean, product-focused team that's ready to professionalise and scale its commercial operations. As our commercial lead, you'll work directly with the founders to optimize our go-to-market strategy and scale our sales function, building upon existing processes while implementing industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the complete commercial strategy and execution
  • Evaluate and optimize our existing sales operations and processes
  • Lead and mentor our current sales professional while building the team for scale
  • Refine and execute enhanced go-to-market strategies for our commercial products
  • Build relationships with enterprise clients and manage key accounts
  • Scale and professionalize our sales processes and frameworks
  • Work closely with our technical team to align product development with market needs
  • Drive revenue growth and help establish product-market fit for our commercial offerings
  • Manage our commercial pipeline and revenue forecasting

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in UI development tools sales or similar technical product sales
  • Track record of building and growing commercial operations in early-stage companies
  • Deep understanding of both open-source and commercial software business models
  • Experience selling developer tools or technical products to enterprise customers
  • Strong technical background with ability to engage in complex technical discussions
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort with ambiguity
  • Excellence in both strategic thinking and hands-on execution
  • Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills
  • Must be able to work effectively across multiple time zones

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in the UI development tools industry
  • Understanding of .NET ecosystem and cross-platform development
  • History of scaling commercial operations from early stage
  • Technical degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Business qualification or demonstrated commercial acumen
